2018-2019 Summer Transfer Window

Posted by Gunner about 6 years ago · 51 replies

This is very early, but we need to start planning ahead of time. We need transfers in order to reach the top. It could both players and board that we can discuss on leaving or joining Arsenal.

We have the money to spend and need to splash it early before we get hijacked. We have an easier time getting players when we get them early (Xhaka, Kolasinac, etc.).

The early stages should be for signing the starters and the rest of the season, signing unknown players for unknown leagues that have world-class potential.

To start off, we should push for a Cazorla-like player. That is why I want to get Max Meyer.

He's 22, shown great potential as a creative defensive midfielder, and (like Kolasinac) can come to Arsenal from Schalke for FREE.

We will need to focus on securing some HG-players if Jack leaves and if we decide to cash in on Bellerin. Although most of you will disagree, I would definitely sign Evans for 3 mil, and I would add Butland too.

Some other targets should be Diallo (left-footed CB, Mainz), N'Zonzi (age is a concern, but HG), Malcom, Lemar, Meyer, Doucouré (great EPL-experience). 2-3 players are needed, especially in the defensive section.

HG feels like a must; though, there's a few potential stars in eddie nketiah, joe willock, reiss nelson, and a few others. If were talking transfers... what about someone like vincent thill?

That's all up front though, and we probably do have the fire power we need up front. Aside from jack butland, who could we put in the back line? For young players, I can only think daniele rugani?

edit: oh, what about jose gimenez?

I'm not a fan of getting Rugani at all. He is a great player to have but we already have Chambers and Holding trying to break into the first team. Rugani doesn't have EPL experience so he may struggle. Also, Chambers is working hard for his minutes and he spent a lot of time with us to get there. To get Rugani would just spit his progress back at his face.

Maycon from Corinthians looks like a Mislintant deal so I'm interested in him, Jonny Evans for 3 million would give us experience but is not to replace Chambers but to be more of a Mertesacker replacement, Bernd Leno I heard can be sold cheaply so maybe get him instead of Butland, and Meyer who is going to be free in the summer.

Getting Dembele would be great and will show how much Mislintant helped our club, especially since he got us Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang. Overall, we've got a lot of firepower in this market to make something happen. This year's transfer windows were to get rid of unhappy and deadwood players. In this one, let's get an overhaul of who we need to get some major silverware again.

Signing Dembele from Barca is just a myth... Evans will be cheaper option and as direct replacement of Mertesacker, hope he won't be another Silvestre/Squillaci kind of signing...

Won't be surprised if we have a quiet summer, after huge spending in last two transfers...

There are a lot of bargains available to us. Horn's team is getting relegated and would be cheaper and better than Jan Oblak in terms of how many saves he makes per game with the defense they have. Plus, he's younger.

Max Meyer will be free. Some players that could be used in the future that we don't know about are available cheap.

Also, Fellaini, Amin Younes, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Kwadwo Asamoah, and even Luke Shaw. We have a lot of cheap options to chose from.

I am not saying not to spend big in the window but maybe consider these options so we can either save it for a big player and/or use it to get someone that won't come cheaply that we need.

you seriously mean Fellaini and Luke Shaw??? Kepa has rejected Real Madrid to stay back, and why does he leave for Arsenal???

Ofcourse we have some cheap options and bargains available... but we need some quality strong players, rather just numbers...

Shaw and Fellaini still have quality and we could use them with Fellaini as a temporary solution. Shaw can challenge Kolasinac when Monreal is gone so we have something there.

Also, I'm not saying go only for the bargains. In the January transfer window, we may have gotten the Greek first, but he was just there for the future and because it was quick to complete. Henrik and Pierre took longer but were more worthwhile though and are necessary for Arsenal to be great again.

We need more players, but we could use a new manager like Viera who has seen other coaching styles and is even doing well for a young manager in the MLS. I think he can be the new Zidane, Guardiola manager that we need by the end of the season with our without the Europa League.

Wenger is rumored to buy Saul Niguez for $131 million pounds!

From the sound of it, I don't think it is going to happen because there are cheaper options to go for like Max Meyer. I personally think this is very overhyped.

Our first priority should be buying a quality centre back to replace god awful Mustafi. His performences this season have been horrible and inconsistent.

Koscielny isn't getting any younger, to fix our terrible back line we need two buy 2 world class cb's this summer.

Chambers has been doing well when he plays so I would give him more time as well as Holding is not there yet but could use a good run of games to get in the starting XI.

With Mustafi, he is inconsistent but he is not a bad defender. He can turn it around for the better.

As for signings, get Meyer and Ndidi to provide some quality to our midfield. I don't expect Jack to sign a new deal so it would be reasonable. Also, we need more fullbacks because Monreal is past his peak and Kolasinca will take the reins. However, we can see that we can't truly bench or push Bellerin when he is in a slump so we need to get some depth on both sides.

Also, we need a goalkeeper that is not old and has potential or in his prime.

I think Mustafi is the definition of a bad defender. He's inconsistent and consistenly makes rash decisions.

I agree we need a cdm to replace Xhaka, Ndidi could be a good option .

No
Uh, "no"...

I don't thin Xhaka needs to be replaced but that he the team should be built around him so he can do what he does best. Xhaka is not a Defensive Midfielder like Kante but he was never meant to be.

Ndidi and/or Meyer would provide him some defensive cover and put less pressure on him. We can see what he can do when we give him the support. Just partner him with someone who can help him out defensively and we have a solid midfield.

The approach to transfer has been miles better than the past 10+years. Torreira is the best business they have done in a long time, i especially appreciate the no nonsense approach of getting it done promptly.

Assuming torreira and sokratis don't fall through, all they really need is a new keeper and they can sit back and base any remaining transfer business in opportunities for a bargain buy or massive sale.

Hopefully they show as much direction and initiative in the pitch as they have in the early transfer market.

Finally getting excited about arsenal again!

We have signed Bernd Leno! Now we have a good goalkeeper since Lehman.

He even said he looked up to him despite Lehman getting fired hours before.

Such decisiveness in transfer market. I hope this same attitude is reflected on the pitch.

Transfer business is essentially over, and the world cup hasn't even ended yet. This is the approach I've wanted them to take to some transfers.

If something too good to pass up falls into their lap, or they receive a crazy offer to sell a player they can reopen transfer business.

They have acted decisively to add steel to the spine, and now it is up to the big names up front to start capitalizing on this improved foundation.

So far, I'm very happy with the post Wenger era.
