Alexis playing centrally

Posted by TopTopQuality over 7 years ago · 113 replies

Wenger has finally seen the light. Everyone says that Sanchez is playing CF but in reality he's our n10 now. Or you could also say it's a 4-4-2 with Walcott and Sanchez as the 2 strikers.

Sanchez is a creative goal scorer, and he flourishes as such. Walcott isn't creative but he's a pacey goal scorer who makes good runs. And they complement each other very well.

Ozil is now playing deeper or on wings. Nitice how he has ZERO assists as of today. I actually like Ozil playing as more of a number 8.

And it probably means we've seen the last of Giroud. Have nothing against him personally, he seems to be a top bloke. But as a footballer he's not suited to Arsenal. He should probably go somewhere like Juventus, PSG, Atletico or Bayern.

And quite possibly Ozil playing deeper and having so many other central midfielders, means that Ramsey's Arsenal career is nearing its end. And I'm ok with it.

As a CM he's useless - no discipline, always ends up in the box, he thinks he's a striker.

On wings he's better but that's not his best position.

His best position is n10, like he plays for Wales. But he won't get a game in that position at Arsenal.

Every best manager had some worst day in transfers... but still Arsene is a class and the best ever!!!

Wish he had kept his Invincibles together for few more season... but he had to move on and sacrifice his best ever team for other reasons......

As the season goes on, there's more and more proof that Sanchez has much more creativity than Ozil playing centrally. All around Sanchez is a much better attacking player than Ozil. He creates better chances and can score.

...they're playing in different positions. It's like saying SEE MUSTAFI MAKES MORE TACKLES THAN SANCHEZ HE MUST BE BETTER PLAYER.

Why can't he function like a normal fan and appreciate the fact that we have two of the World's best players starting week in week out instead of constantly finding a way to put down one of the finest players to ever play for our club?

That's why Ozil was key in our 2nd and 3rd goals. Because he can't unlock defenses and isn't creative enough.

Pass to Monreal bounced off a defender's head.

Pass to Giroud for the 3rd goal - Jenkinson could've made that pass.

Because when he came to Arsenal he pushed Cazorla to the wing where he was wasted. Watching Arsenal became unbearable with Giroud up front and Ozil as n10. Then he was hampering Sanchez because Sanchez had to play on the wing.

But it was made by World Class Ozil and not by mediocre Jenkinson.. Accept the fact and move on.. You want to prove every of his actions are so ordinary, because the level of expectations he has set before i guess...

Giroud is slow as all get-out but he is still a physical player and has had some clutch headers for us (cough cough Man U). I agree that we need a pacier striker, and Alexis is starting to fill that role, but I think we should hold on to Giroud for a little longer, at least until he desires to leave.

I'm not against keeping Giroud. As a sub he's super effective. But when he was the only striker starting every game it was excruciating to watch.

but with this formation, Ozil will get more chance to score many goals...

I told you so..Now he's scoring goals and making important assists as well...

Against Basel he was playing like a true number 10, pulling the strings from deep. That pass to Gibbs.

And Lucas was the CF poacher. It's a 4-4-2

Our formation hasn't changed in the slightest, it's Alexis playing up front which is giving us a whole new dimension.

Without Giroud and being burdened creatively, Özil feels like he can run in behind a lot more now without it being a wasted effort, you've got the LW acting as a secondary/tertiary playmaker, Alexis doing what he wants and Theo/Perez being a goalscoring threat.

This is the football I've craved to see for such a long time, and it's no surprise that every single one of our players are benefitting from Alexis playing up front instead of a predictable bog-standard targetman like Ollie G.

Formation usually refers to a defensive shape, it's just that our two best players have the freedom to do essentially whatever they want

Two things 'TopTopQuality' will never understand...

Ozil is World class!!! Arsene has abandoned 4-4-2 formation long back!!!

I still can't believe that Sanchez is playing for Arsenal. I thought players of such calibre would never come to Arsenal. It's an absolute joy to watch him play.

I was really pissed off about Wenger not signing Luis Suarez when he could, but Sanchez is on par with Suarez, so it's ok.
