Losing 4 games out of 5

Posted by Gunner about 7 years ago · 57 replies

After that humiliating defeat to WBA, we now lost 4 of our 5 recent games in the BPL.

I think Wenger just doesn't have the right players to win us the title because we obviously aren't spending enough.

Wenger was good when he had the players he needed but right now, he is putting his faith in the wrong people and we are a headless chicken without a captain.

Either Wenger goes all out to get the players we need this summer or he is out and we get someone who will do that.

Do you guys think the board is not giving us the money to buy the players we need?

What are you talking about, we have spent £200 million net in the last four years. There is plenty of money to spend. The problem is Wenger, and no one else. Even if I buy your argument that the problem is the players: Wenger is the one picking them. Buying them. Training them.

I think Wenger doesn't like to go "in debt" because ever since he came here, he found a lot of ways to make a lot of money. Wenger could get some big talent but doesn't like spending overinflated fees on transfers.

I think Wenger is still doing that but is not succeeding as he used to especially when they overinflate transfer fees.

I do wonder if in the future that what Wenger is doing is actually beneficial.

That's the problem...why does Wenger have a say about how the club spends money. It's literally none of his business. His focus should be on the first team performing. If that means going into debt in order to compete for titles, then that is what we should do. It's not Wenger's job to hinder our progress because he's worried about how the board will manage to get funds.

Arsenal might get more fans if we get the people we need at any cost and perform well to the point that we inspire children to be Arsenal fans so they can:

1) Buy some of our merchandise 2) Fill up our stadium 3) Give us support

When we get more sales for our shirts, we can raise the price and earn more money.

Ok, you do that

And also, Wenger should become a little more ruthless like SAF so it gets players to actually perform better and to make our squad feared like in the early Wenger days.

You mean to say another Leeds United?

There's no problem with Wenger's tactics, infact it fails again n again as he has the wrong players at his disposal... WBA game was a perfect example, with Fast paced lineup, we were supposed to kill WBA in 1st half itself.. but these players don't have the courage and not played accordingly..

Who should we get?

Griezmann, Kante...and Ramos maybe?

And before you say "why would they want to leave their clubs" or "why would their clubs sell them", please note that only Arsenal thinks like that. Chelsea didn't care that we didn't want to sell Cole. Barcelona didn't care that we didn't want to sell Fabregas. Big clubs don't care about stuff like that. They identify players they need and then do everything they can to get them.

Arsene will never make such an approach towards any players and do in wrong way.

But i agree, we should be ruthless and target Aguero, Reus, Varane and Casemiro (considering Sanchez and Ozil leaves)

Also, if we can't pry the bigger names away from their clubs, we should go for very talented players from smaller clubs and get the stars we need. Ex: Xhaka, Mustafi, Perez, Podolski, etc

Some smaller name players that we could target are: Leon Gortetzka from Schalke 04, Naby Keita and Emil Forsberg from Redbull Leipzig, Serge Gnabry from you know where, and Ricardo Pereira from Nice to name a few.

Or maybe a great replacement for our favorite: Francis Coquelin. He would be a huge improvement.

Wenger was great when he had a cutting edge transfer/scouting methodology that was 10 years ahead of its time, but, unfortunately, the rest of the footballing world has not only caught up, but surpassed and modernized wengers once cutting edge philosophy. This man has rested on his laurels for the past decade, and has done nothing but make excuses and blame others for his own complacency.

Also, wenger doesn't just refuse to pay high transfer fees. He won't even pay his own star players a market wage, hence the repeated exodus of talent from this team.
