We created a page for transfer frequency, in collaboration with data mastermind @bootifulgame. Some interesting stuff in there, including:

  • Of all first team transfers under Wenger, 14% were signed in the last week of the summer
  • The likelihood of signing a player in the last week of the summer, based on previous years, is 83%
  • The average initial fee spent per transfer in the last week of the summer is £5.13m
  • Of all players signed in the last week of the summer under Wenger, 46% have been defensive-minded (defenders or defensive-minded midfielders)
  • In the last 18 years we have only signed three first-team strikers in the last week of the summer window, one of which was a loan (Baptista) and the other two were Park Chu-young and Danny Welbeck

At least it's highly likely we'll sign a player, but if the stats are anything to go by it's going to be a defender or midfielder.

My guess is that they buy another goal keeper. That will get the pundits and fans super mad.

We sure are going to add a player or two. Our bench is thin and there are almost no players in reserves that can make a breakthrough this season like Hector did, just Iwobi or Jeff Adelaide
