The Almighty 2015 Summer Transfer Window Thread

Posted by VA10 about 9 years ago · 476 replies

I know it's too early but I've just had a brilliant idea of an ideal Summer transfer window so I opened the thread, sue me.

So the news is we'll have 50 million quid for the Summer, here's what I'd do:

  • 10 million for Cech, he's the kind of a goalkeeper that wins you trophies
  • 40 million for Reus, love the guy
  • Khedira on a free.

Boom cancel the transfer window we've won it.

Still can't pull off a list on this contraption...

Is there any reason that's acceptable why Wenger's post shouldn't be under threat if we finish 10 points behind City thus fail to challenge?

Let's see where we are in January. The stubbornness is getting tiring, but Wenger does have two FA Cup trophies in the last two years so he's obviously doing something right.

With Man City and Chelsea making the Premier League their own competition, and then Man Utd and Liverpool throwing cash around as if they won a lottery, it's unrealistic to think that we should be automatically fighting for the title. There are four tiers of quality in the Premier League:

  1. Man City and Chelsea
  2. Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd
  3. Most other teams
  4. Three or four guaranteed relegation candidates

It's going to take a long time to upset that balance. And until we do, we'll be fighting for third or second place, at best.

WE don't need Sterling, we need established players that can take first XI spot like Reus.

Cech still can be consider better then Courtois, as much as i love our players, i cant say that our Gk's are near Cech level. Don't think we will go for it, but if we do it will be improvement.

Oh and Pedro for 7 mil

I've had enough of this. I bet £10,000 plus my virginity that neither Cech, Sterling nor Milner will be an Arsenal player in August.

I agree with you, but seriously i dont mind us having Sterling. We need another winger to help out Alexis. Also another player to help out le Coq! i have a bad felling that le coq would get sucked next year.

Linked with Jackson today. Even Giroud talked about him a couple of months ago. Please Arsene, get him.

25 million quid for a 29 year old Jackson? United got 29 year old RVP for 25. No thank you. It's a transfer market where the likes of Reus might be sold. Pedro and Jackson can go to Liverpool.

Maybe if he comes and bangs in goals it'll put everyone out of this Stockholm Syndrome people have seemed to suffer with Giroud.

I don't know where Sterling will be at 27. But I'm happy with Alexis, Theo, Ox, Welbeck and Gnabry on the wings. If we get someone it should be Reus or a youngster like Sterling.

I don't know where Sterling will be at 27.

League Two alongside Harry Kane, I assume. Vastly overhyped player.

Can we stop pretending Liverpool is a big club? Sure, Sterling is good at Liverpool...but that doesn't mean he is good in general. What has he ever achieved? Seven goals and seven assists in 34 starts isn't exactly impressive for an attacking winger. He almost has more yellow cards than goals scored.

And it's not like he's been injured or anything, he's had a solid 3,000+ minute run in the Premier League this season and still has pretty shitty stats.

Press is now reporting €30m for Jackson Martinez. £21.33m, he is definitely worth that on stats alone. For comparison, here's Jackson Martinez compared to other strikers who have played for Porto:

  • Jackson Martinez: 89 apps, 0.752 goals per game
  • Falcao: 51 apps, 0.803 goals per game
  • Hulk: 99 apps, 0.545 goals per game
  • Lisandro Lopes: 106 apps, 0.462 goals per game

As long as there are no world-class strikers available, Jackson Martinez is a good option.

Looked on a Porto forum and they all think he's leaving for sure. They don't know which club but they don't want him to go to Spurs, unsurprisingly. Sure he might be a bit old but we handed United the title when we sold van Persie to them, hopefully big Jackson can make a difference.

His stats in the CL are really good as well for a relatively poor side.

I have decided. We will buy:Boom.

You are very modest today IX. But maybe you should wait bit, we gonna be linked with 100 more played this summer. WE will have big list to pick from.

No I mean I called Wenger and told him that enough is enough, and that he should buy the aforementioned players. He agreed.
