The Arsenal Apparel Society

Posted by Ix Techau about 7 years ago · 11 replies

The Arsenal Apparel Society (AAS) is a membership club that offers original and exclusive Arsenal-related high-quality t-shirt prints every month for a £40 subscription fee. These t-shirts are 100% cotton premium-grade 150g/m² with a real nice and light feel, and the artwork is sourced from around the globe.

Prints are kept secret until shipped.

Here at Arsenal Report we pride ourselves on being not-for-profit. We have never had any ads, never had sponsored content, never plugged any products in return for compensation of any kind. We're simply not interested in making money, we're only interested in being a great platform for Arsenal supporters.

Because of this, artists in the AAS are compensated with 100% of the profits (after print costs, shipping and payment fees). This means Arsenal Report makes £0, as always. For absolute transparency, here's a breakdown of costs:

  • Payment provider takes about £0.80 per payment
  • T-shirts cost us roughly £20-23 to print and deliver
  • Packaging is roughly £1-2 per shirt
  • Shipping to members is about £3-8, depending on location

So the cost for us to print and deliver a t-shirt to an AAS member is between £24.80-£33.80, giving the artist between £6.20-£15.20 profit per subscription. It's also worth mentioning that new AAS members only pay £30 for their first month, and in that case profit could end up at £0 or even negative (in which case Arsenal Report would cover that cost).

So why are we doing this? Arsenal Report has always been an experimental platform and a place where new features are tried all the time. We are now trying to explore avenues involving original content to complement our original data.

If you're an artist who want to submit artwork, send us an email at [email protected] with the design you'd like to submit. Keep in mind that we only accept designs that aren't available elsewhere, so you must be prepared to enter an exclusive agreement with Arsenal Report.

Terms & Conditions
  1. T-shirts are printed in limited editions so can not be refunded or replaced once shipped. Make sure you select the correct shirt size in your account settings after signing up. See size guide on this page.

  2. To qualify for next month's t-shirt, membership must be created before the first day of that month. All payments after the first day of the month only count towards the following month's t-shirt.

  3. We offer full refunds as long as the t-shirt hasn't been printed (this happens at the start of every month).

Join the Arsenal Apparel Society today and only pay £30 for your first cycle. Your first t-shirt will arrive in the middle of next month.

On a more serious note, it seems a bit dear for one shirt a month. Maybe if it was like a loot crate or something like that with a bunch of gear there'd be more impetus to get behind it but I can't really justify £40 a month for just one shirt.

Yeah I can understand that, but currently it's not possible to go below £40 and still be able to attract artists to submit exclusive artwork. If the membership numbers increase we could perhaps lower the price in the future as it would be cheaper to order in bulk, but right now at £20-23 per shirt we can't really go any lower.

On the plus side, the quality is phenomenal so it's on par with what you would have to pay for similar quality and exclusive prints elsewhere.

What's wrong with the rebellious button that's defiantly out of style with the rest of the site?

Interesting idea, as a fan of another club currently much further down the pyramid, I look on with interest as to how successful this is :)
