The almighty 2016-2017 summer transfer window thread

Yarmolenko is starting to talk about Everton being a better fit form him than Barca because he wants to play regularly rather than "take selfies with Messi". Never thought he would even think about leaving, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Unless he goes to Man Utd, Man City or Chelsea of course, then I'll claim I never really wanted him.

Now that Bellerin is in the Spanish squad he'll probably be off to Barca after Euros. Bartra, Alba, Busquets, Pique, Iniesta will be tapping him up during the Euros trying to awaken his Barca DNA.

Xhaka is now number 29, not 16 he was given last week. Must mean we'll have someone more special wearing 16.

People complaining they've already ordered Xhaka 16 shirts. If you're such a wanker who orders a Xhaka 16 shirt within a week of the player being announced, then you deserve this. You shouldn't be refunded. You should wear Xhaka 16.

Don't think that will work anymore. Barca aren't the Barca they used to be. When Fabregas left they were unstoppable, nowadays they're just too reliant on Messi and the world have moved on from the tiki-taka era. They're just not as dreamy anymore, and Bellerin doesn't seem like the traitorous mercenary diego-costa-guzzling snake-shaped Chelsea-loving cunt that Fabregas turned out to be.

Ric Rod was absent from Swiss training with no reason given (Yann Sommer was also missing but the Swiss stated he had a cold). £19m release clause apparently expires at the end of the month so if this is happening it'll probably be done very quickly.

With Morata, I've never understood the hype whatsoever. Even though I don't trust Arsene much anymore, if he's paying £30m+ for someone then he surely must be on the brink of exploding. Real Madrid's buyback clause is ~£22m right? Can't see them selling him on for anything more than £35m

Even in the best case scenario where Morata turns out to be some kind of PA200 and becomes the best striker in the world in three years, he still doesn't solve our immediate problem, which is that we need a world class 25+ goals per season striker to convert Ozil's key passes into assists.

Can you make top 20 list of this players you have on mind? Price( relative), last 3 years (if they are active) goal scoring record, club they play, specific skills that make them shine. Who are this player out there, that can do it. Exclude Messi, Lewa, Suarez, Aguero and Kane, include Higuain, who are the rest?

Why exclude Lewandowski and Higuain? There is no reason not to go for these players, except being a stingy bastard. 20 might be a stretch, but let's look at seven prospects (name, speculated price, league goal + assist stats):

  1. Griezmann (25), ≈£50m, 0.66 goals + 0.17 assists per 90 (most as a winger)
  2. Icardi (23), ≈£40m, 0.62 goals + 0.16 assists per 90
  3. Lukaku (23), ≈£50m, 0.45 goals + 0.18 assists per 90
  4. Benzema (28), ≈£50m, 0.71 goals + 0.33 assists per 90
  5. Muller (26), ≈£40m, 0.60 goals + 0.33 assists per 90
  6. Ibrahimovic (34), FREE, 1.02 goals + 0.37 assists per 90
  7. Lacazette (25), £30m, 0.65 goals + 0.12 assists per 90

For comparison, Giroud was 0.56 goals + 0.21 assists per 90...so statistically better than Lukaku, but also worth remembering that Giroud is being served perfect key passes by Ozil and Lukaku is being served amateurish key passes by overrated chav Ross Barkley.

Either one of those players would improve Arsenal, and that list doesn't even include the aforementioned Lewandowski and Higuain. So that is nine top strikers that we could (and should) go for.

I didnt said exclude Higuain, i meant include him. He is at top form now so its normal to expect him on the list, was searching for other players. i find Lewandowski, Muller out of our reach, and they never showed wish to move from Bayern. Benzema is too coke property now so we should stay out of it.

Ibracuntovic is probable best quick fix. For a season or two. But lot of teams will fight for him. So we got to do something great for him, like building statue before he even score for us.

From rest of the list we have 3 players (Griezmann, Lacazette and Icardi ) that i don't think can lead the line in Arsenal alone if we don't move to 2 strikers up(this don't mean they wont give us more option and improve team overall). The last option is Lukaku who may be bit upgrade to Giroud because of his speed and has time to develop in better player.

I still think we didn't fixed our LW problem from 2 years ago and Griezmann would be great direct goal contribution addition, as striker i don't find him legit for Arsenal. For me if we shift Alexis at RW where he belong( and where he got moved last few games of 2015/2016) and get Griezmann to supplement Giroud from LW position, at this moment would be best option.

So the list is:

  1. Get Ibracuntovic to get instant boost, and prolong buying someone for the feature in next 2 years.

  2. Check if Napoli Chairman is not on drugs and wont ask 100 mil for Higuain and go for it.

  3. Get Griezmann as LW Keep Giroud as striker.

  4. Go for Griezmann, Lacazette and Icardi and pray they make it.

  5. Get Lukaku ( i'm not convice he will give us much more then Giroud, maybe between them they could get goals enough to push for title.)

Dont we have more options ?

Try again with Teo up front ?

I really don't want to see Giroud or Theo starting for Arsenal on a regular basis ever again

Giroud should only see the field in lesser cup games. He's great at roughing up League One Defenders and carrying the team through early FA/C1C/UCL fixtures.

Theo has no place on the team. 10 years, and nothing to show for it. Good riddance.

Cant edit post above for some reason.

We keep talking about striker, but we are in huge problem on CB position. Gabriel really failed to seal partnership with KOS. He look more shaky then Per.
