The almighty 2016-2017 summer transfer window thread

Yarmolenko is starting to talk about Everton being a better fit form him than Barca because he wants to play regularly rather than "take selfies with Messi". Never thought he would even think about leaving, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Unless he goes to Man Utd, Man City or Chelsea of course, then I'll claim I never really wanted him.

Claudio Ranieri says Riyad Mahrez risks ending up on the bench if he decides to leave Leicester this summer. Woah way to go, slamming your EPL title winning player.

There's no truth to the mahrez rumors right now. These idiotic articles suggest a £35mil fee. His value is at least 50. Leicester would sell him to Madrid at a discount before agreeing to a transfer with arsenal.

I doubt that Vardy buyout helped to facilitate a productive negotiating environment with Leicester. Mahrez is a great target to have, but it's only happening if he insists on a nice to arsenal and only arsenal. And even then, it could end up like de gea to Madrid.

I agree with Ix, above, that making a big move for griezmann is the way to go. He's worth a massive fee (some may argue he's more worth it than pogba), and would turn arsenal into instant contenders in Europe as well as the Prem.

I agree, of all the big names, I think Griezmann would be definitely worth spending big money on (and be the most likely to come).

He would cost more than Pogba though, and there is no way Arsenal will ever spend more than £50m on any player. In 50 years when a typical 16-year old Polish CB goes for £200m, Wenger will still be alive and bidding £10m for world-class midfielders.

In 50 years football stadiums will be filled with homeless people living there. They will be searching for the lost Arsenal treasure.

Mertesacker, koscielney, and Gabriel are all absent from the tour squad. Holding, nacho and chambers are the only center halfs on the touring squad.

So right now we are linked with Mustafi for CB position. Some say he didnt travel to Finland for pre-season with Valencia ( Why Mustafi would train but Ozil cant ?)

Ozil can't train because wenger has given him time off due to extended duties in euros

I don't think there is any truth to the mustafi rumors. It sounds like total bs media speculation.

I don't think they will make another signing. It sounds to me like the board is planning to throw wenger under the bus. They are leaking news about his successor, making ridiculous statements contradicting wenger re the teams transfer approach.

I have some issues with wengers tactical approach, but it is clear that this biannual transfer debaucle is 100% on the board and the ownership.

Now that Leicester had made them look the fool on a shoestring budget, they are clamoring to find scapegoats for their own malfeasance and avarice.

Wenger may be absurdly idealist in his tactics, but at least it is clear he cares dearly for this club. The same cannot be said for Gazidis, kroenke, and the board.

I see people saying this everywhere, but where is the actual evidence? How do you know that Gazidis and Kroenke and the board do not care for the club more than Wenger does?

Personally I think Wenger is the one causing us problems in the market, not Kroenke or the board. I think he is the one not willing to spend £60m+ on a striker, it's not an instruction from the board. In fact I think the board would be more than happy for Wenger to spend £100-150m in a summer.

When Wenger goes we'll all be very scared of someone coming in, spending shit loads, failing and leaving us. Something Arsene won't do due to his love and commitment to the Arsenal.
