Arsene Wenger has provided the latest team news update ahead of Sunday’s Premier League encounter with Manchester United.

The Gunners will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s abysmal derby defeat at White Hart Lane, and it looks as if we’ll be without Granit Xhaka who picked up an ankle knock in the 2-0 defeat to Sp*rs.

“Granit Xhaka is out from the kick he got in the game,” said Wenger. “It’s a swollen ankle.”

“Mustafi is back in full training, and that’s about it.”

Although when pressed later he said there was a ‘little chance’ that the Swiss international could make it in time.

Asked about Lucas Perez, he confirmed the Spaniard had returned to the fold, but may well miss out because of a knock on the training ground.

“Lucas Perez is back in the training as well but he’ll miss the next two days, he got a little problem in training yesterday,” he said.”

And after the derby defeat, the Arsenal manager is looking for his team to show more when they face Jose Mourinho’s side at the Emirates on Sunday.

“The best way is to respond because we come out of a good spell, we want to bounce back,” he said.

“Sometimes it’s good to have a big game.”

  • Arsenal's 3-0 victory over Manchester United at the Emirates last season is their only win in 11 Premier League games against them (D4 L6).

  • Manchester United haven't lost consecutive away Premier League games against Arsenal since November 2001.

  • Arsene Wenger's only previous win as Arsenal manager against Jose Mourinho came in the 2015 Community Shield - he's never prevously beaten him in the Premier League before (W0 D7 L5).

  • Indeed, Jose Mourinho has faced Arsenal without losing more times in the Premier League than he has any other side (12 - W5 D7 L0).

  • Alexis Sanchez needs just one goal to register his best-ever return from a single campaign in Europe's big five leagues (currently on 19, tied with 2013/14 for Barcelona).

  • Wayne Rooney has scored more Premier League goals against Arsenal than any other player in Premier League history (11).

  • Danny Welbeck has scored in each of his last three appearances versus Manchester United for Arsenal in all competitions.
  • Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has now provided as many assists for Arsenal this season in the Premier League as in his previous five combined for the Gunners (7).
  • This was the first time that Oxlade-Chamberlain had assisted twice in the same Premier League game.
  • Two English players combined for a Premier League goal for Arsenal for the first time since December 2014 (also Oxlade-Chamberlain for Welbeck, v West Ham).
