Idea formation/line-up

Cech; Bellerin - Mert - Kos - Nacho; Santi - Coq; Wilshere - Özil - Alexis; Welbeck

Well if we can't sign anyone and we're creating a shape based on our best players, I'd say the first place to start is listing our top ten outfield players in order of quality/importance. This is roughly my list:

1. Özil - CAM
2. Sanchez - LW
3. Coquelin - CM
4. Koscielny - CB
5. Bellerin - RB
6. Monreal - LB
7. Giroud - CF
8. Mertesacker - CB
9. Cazorla - CM
10. Welbeck - ST

Then all we need to do is come up with a shape that allows us to play all of those players in their preferred positions. Looking at the list above, it seems we have three forwards in the top ten (Giroud, Welbeck and Sanchez), and one #10. The only system in which that works is a 4-2-1-3, which we are currently using anyway.

Undoubtedly we'll sign at least 3 players in the summer but for the rest of the season in Prem games it has to be:

Cech; Bellers - Mert - Kos - Nacho; Coq - Elnenny; Joel - Özil - Alexis; Welbeck

I would like to see how they play in a 352.

We thought they would undoubtedly sign at least 3 players last summer too.

We have to though. Ospina, Flamini & Arteta are all leaving. That leaves a back up keeper, a space for a DM backup/first choice with still the right wing, CM & striker positions needing bolstering.

Have you heard of Szczesny? Arteta's replacement as in? Someone to never play for us? What difference does it make?

If Szcz is willing to learn from Cech then sure, I think he could do with another season out on loan though.

We need a first choice CM at this rate as well as someone as good if not better than Coq at DM. Coq is so, so bad on the ball and we desperately miss someone who can recycle possession.

For me it's no coincidence that Arteta managed to make Song & Ramsey look good.

If we stick with Coq at DM we need a player in the mould of Verratti/Gundogan/Pjanic, if we get a DM whose good on the ball then Ramsey should be okay to play centrally.
