It just keeps getting better for RvP

Riding the bench for Fenerbahce wasn't enough of a step up. Coming on off the Dutch bench in a Euro qualifier and directing a bullet header into your own goal to lose the game is definitely up there.

Let's see what went wrong the moment Van Persie left Arsenal:

  • Had to share locker room with Wayne Rooney
  • Increased the number of grey hairs on his head by 62%
  • The man who promised him the world retired after only one season
  • Had to take orders from Moyes
  • Nearly went all the way in the World Cup, which is worse than exiting early
  • Had to take orders from human slug-like creature Van Gaal
  • Must have seen Di Maria naked at least a few times
  • Forever labelled as a disloyal mercenary
  • Played for supporters who called him a rapist for years
  • Was sold to Fenerbahce = shit club
  • Scored an own goal to knock Holland out of the Euros

Lesson learned: don't leave Arsenal.

It's so hard to decide whether leaving Arsenal was the right decision for him. He got what he wanted in a Prem medal which he wouldn't have got at us, but his career went straight down the toilet after whereas he would've been a legend here

I think he left because he was expecting to take a step up in his career and become a legend, perhaps also winning a Champions League title. Instead he just stayed in form - at the same level he was in the last six months with us - and then it all fell apart after the league title. That's good enough for me.

I think Fergie let him down massively by retiring when he did. But it was a bit naive on Robin's part to expect Fergie to carry on year after year.
