Ozil's interview in Express

Posted by Ix Techau about 9 years ago · 5 replies

On realizing some things during injury:

I had time to think calmly about some things [during my injury spell]. I realized that talent alone is not sufficient to achieve my main goals.

On using injury spell to build muscle mass:

My body is more stable, I feel fresher. And that you need in England too.

On returning to Germany:

[Returning to Germany] is for me currently not in question. I'm really happy at Arsenal. I'm confident I'll be here a long time.

I have this increasing worry that it has become trendy to think Ozil is a genius, similar to how hipsters claim gourmet coffee is vastly superior in taste, even though they can't even tell the difference between that and instant coffee.

I'd honestly prefer that over everyone hating on him.

I think he has insecurities and they're going to go as he's getting more comfortable at Arsenal. As for his talent, I think he's out of this world. I admire watching him. He is the definition of perfection is simplicity.

He's still our best player by some distance. Not lived up to the price-tag but £42m is an absurd amount for anyone. Glad to see he's so committed though; his performances since coming back from injury have been superb and the effort he is putting in is tenfold compared to when he first joined.
