Ramsey isn't a centrl midfielder

Posted by TopTopQuality over 7 years ago · 13 replies

This article concisely describes how useless Ramsey is as a CM.

http://www.football365.com/news/xhaka-can-just-not-with-wandering-ramsey

"Xhaka had to be chief cook and bottle-washer too. Such is life in central midfield with Aaron Ramsey."

"Ramsey too often decided that Gibbs, Iwobi, Ozil, Sanchez and Perez needed company further up the pitch."

"Basel were poor and yet at times advanced as far as the Arsenal penalty area relatively unchallenged. Where was Ramsey? Jogging back from his foray onto the left wing."

I hope ManUre bid £80 million for the Welsh donkey. Ramsey should go back to Cardiff where he belongs.

Whoa. Ramsey is amazing. It's just Wenger doesn't play him in the position that suits him best. In Euro 2016, he was one of the best midfielders in the tournament because he was played right behind the striker in a 3-5-1-1 formation.

Maybe if you don't want Ramsey anymore, find someone to replace him and then sell him so we don't have some sort of dilemma where we have to recall some inexperienced guy and then bottle the league again

You do that
Ok, you do that

If Ozil leave this summer, Ramsey might get chance to play in the advanced role along with Wilshere..

If that happens, I want to see a 4-1-4-1 formation instead of the 4-2-3-1 to allow more creativity and to give Ramsey the freedom to do what he needs to do like Wales.

If Ramsey is decent on the wings and great in the right central position in the right formation, does that mean he is not a central midfielder?

Giroud
Is it though

A mention is also warranted for Aaron Ramsey's performance at Southampton and in the previous game against Manchester United. The Welshman has had his own critics this season but took the midfield by the scruff the neck in the second half, with his glancing header finding Olivier Giroud for the second goal vs Southampton.

Ramsey’s runs from deep have opened up space for Arsenal’s attackers in the final third and his box-to-box abilities make him a unique asset to a Gunners side which needs more inventiveness and creativity from the midfielders.

The Xhaka-Ramsey pivot has played 783 minutes together this season and in that time Arsenal have scored 22 goals (one every 35 minutes) and conceded eight. Wenger’s change to 3-4-1-2 provides the Welshman with ample opportunity to get up and down the pitch and his forays in the final third are reminiscent of his displays for Wales at Euro 2016 last summer.
