The almighty 2016-2017 summer transfer window thread

Yarmolenko is starting to talk about Everton being a better fit form him than Barca because he wants to play regularly rather than "take selfies with Messi". Never thought he would even think about leaving, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Unless he goes to Man Utd, Man City or Chelsea of course, then I'll claim I never really wanted him.

Would rather Zlatan guaranteeing WC performances for 2 years then see what the striker landscape is looking like than punting £50/60m on Lukaku

Why not both? Ibrahimovic for the immediate impact for a season or maybe two...and then Lukaku takes over. Problem with Ibrahimovic is his wages, I'm guessing he's easily on £250k/week at PSG.

Landscapes in football can change very quickly. I'm not sold on Lukaku whatsoever and depending on our clubs position in two years time when Zlatan's careers fading there could be a much better option for us up front like Dybala available.

I disagree. All evidence is pointing to big powerful allround strikers being the next big thing in modern football. Lukaku has strength, speed and technique. He's the third highest goalscorer in the most competitive league in the world, which is very good considering his team is in 12th place. More assists than Coutinho, Fabregas, Mata, etc...and he's only 22 years old.

Lukaku is going to become a Drogba-esque beast, if he hasn't already. Imagine what he can do with Ozil serving him passes and Sanchez offering options to his left.

Do they?

Aside from Lukaku, the only current 'top prospect' striker who is built like him is Embolo. The rest are the likes of Paco Alcacer, Dybala, Kane, Iheanacho, Icardi, Vietto, Martial, the two Gabriel's etc.

All better with the ball at their feet or a physical presence isn't a key part of their game.

I would much, much prefer Ibra as an instant solution whilst monitoring the market (South American's in particular) throughout his tenure here. Could end up with a much better player than Lukaku whose lacking in key technical areas.

Wenger would never sign zlatan, and has already stated that there is no interest in signing him.

Should have said in the Premier League.

Ibra is fraud, Mkhitaryan isn't improving any position for us, Xhaka seems a surplus given we signed Elneny and Wilshere Santi will be back next season but a good signing nonetheless

I've never seen Xhaka play. What type of player is he?

Arteta on roids (with roid rage) from what I've heard.

Mkhitaryan would be a proper shrewd buy for us if we get him. 10 goals 10 assists from the right wing this season in the Bundesliga, much better than the likes of Ox or Theo can provide us

Some stats:

Mkhitaryan
Winger. Preferred on the right, but has played some games on the left and a few in the centre. 0.46 goals + 0.43 assists per 90 minutes across Bundesliga, Europa League and DFB Pokal (German FA Cup). Has started 24 out of 27 games in the league. 2.8 shot attempts per game and pretty good defensive stats as well. Key stat is his impressive key passes per game (2.7). For comparison, only four players at Arsenal have more than 0.9 key passes per game: Özil (4.2), Cazorla (2.6), Sanchez (2.0) and Ramsey (1.3).

Xhaka
Central midfielder. High defensive stats in tackles (2.6 per game) and interceptions (2.7 per game), but also goes forward. In other words a so-called box-to-box, which fits right into our current system. More Cazorla role than Coquelin role. Attempts loads of long passes (7.8 per game) and makes a lot of passes in general (about 85 on average per game).

Bottom line: Mkhitaryan is an Armenian fraud. He was bought as a replacement for Gotze and failed miserably. Kagawa's Man U move will be more successful than Mkhitaryan's to whichever Premiership club he joins.

Xhaka, embolo, and manolas will be rumored all summer, wenger will refuse to pay market rate for their transfer, and when they turn out pretty good elsewhere, he will say how he was going to sign them, but they weren't available.

Also, iwobi, gnabry, and Adelaide will step into big roles next season, so not buying amfs is justified.
