Posted by Ix Techau about 7 years ago · 461 replies

Squad rules terminology refresher:

  • We can register up to 25 players who are over 21
  • We can register a maximum of 17 non-homegrown players
  • Homegrown player means 36 months spent in England before end of season in which they turn 21
  • U21 player means any player born on or after January 1st 1996
  • U21 players don't have to be registered in order to play, which means we can have as many as we want

Confirmed transfers in/out:

  • Lacazette has signed for a club record £46m initial fee
  • Sanogo left on a free transfer on June 30th
  • Kolasinac joined on a free transfer on July 1st
  • Ospina has asked to be put on the transfer list
  • Lucas Perez has asked to be put on the transfer list
  • Wojciech Szczesny has joined Juventus for £10m

Likely transfers in/out:

  • Debuchy leaving has been on the cards for some time
  • Jenkinson could go on another season-long loan or permanent move
  • Unless said in jest, Wenger did say he wants to bid on Mahrez

Reading some of the suggestions that were posted here... Looks like Arsenalreport has finally gone full retard. Bring back Cesc? Young players will look up to him? To who? The cunt who stabbed us in the back? Cretins.

You guys know how we beat the likes of Man City, Man Utd., and Chelsea with the 3-4-2-1. And how we won those games with Sanchez and Ozil.

I don't think we could continue with our success if they leave or unavailable. It would cause us to switch to a different formation because we have no one capable of being as complete as the duo since no one is used to a playmaker attacking-midfield role.

Attacking midfield should be strengthened so we don't have to die if Ozil or Sanchez are out for any reason.

Possible targets: Forsberg, Mahrez, Toral, Iwobi? Turan, Reus, and Seri.

ARDA AGREES ARSENAL TRANSFER

Turkey international midfielder Arda Turan has agreed to join Arsenal from Barcelona, according to El Desmarque .

Despite Turan's willingness to move to the Premier League club, the two sides are still negotiating over the transfer fee with Barcelona holding out for £26 million (€30m) for the 30-year-old.

Overpriced if you ask me. I'd rather get Tolisso or Seri instead of the Turk. They will get better while Turan is only going to get worst.

Arsenal should actually be more focused on a striker who is going to consistently score the goals instead of negotiating over the price tag of a Turk who is past his peak.

Last year, we could have gotten Lacazette but failed to live up to the 40 million they were asking for. Now, I don't think he wants to play in the Europa League and is probably going to a club with Champions League.

No
Uh, "no"...

Szczesny; Kos, Mustafi, Nacho/Holding; Bellerin/Ox, Xhaka, Rambo/Naby K, Kolasinac; Özil, Mbappe, Alexis

Is genuinely good enough to challenge imo.

Mbappe is the biggest must get. We get to have him for 4/5 years then sell him for a guaranteed profit, its a no brainer

GOOD NEWS

Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette has affirmed he could forego Champions League football next season, in an apparent wink to long-term suitors Arsenal.

BAD NEWS

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has said "a lot can happen" before the start of next season as talk of a move back to Barcelona continues to grow.

I don't think bellerin will leave, at least not this year. Meanwhile, the Lacazette quote is definitely a good sign

Ligue 1 is shit though. Gervinho was great for Lille and look how much that mattered in a real league.

So is mbappe shit too then? He plays in the same league and scored fewer goals in all appearances than Lacazette.

You don't see a difference in skill and potential between Mbappe and Lacazette? Mbappe performed at the highest level in the Champions League at age 18, slicing open world class teams. Lacazette is a 26-year old prolific Ligue 1 goalscorer but completely unproven against anything better than PSG twice a year.

I agree with you, and I think mbappe is better, especially for his age. But I think you're selling Lacazette short. He could play a key role in our squad next season, and I'm not sure if mbappe is worth shelling out 120 mil when we can get lacazette for around 40-50

If we buy Mbappe for £120m we can sell him for £140m to Real Madrid, Bayern or Barcelona in five years. If we get Lacazette for £50m we can maybe sell him to West Ham for £5m after three years.

Alright, I'll concede that. I still think you're selling Lacazette short as a player but Mbappe is a better investment, even with the ridiculous price tag.

Either way we should have more ambition than Lacazette. Lukaku is probably available for £50m, and he's at least a proven Premier League striker.
