The Almighty 2015 Summer Transfer Window Thread

Posted by VA10 about 9 years ago · 476 replies

I know it's too early but I've just had a brilliant idea of an ideal Summer transfer window so I opened the thread, sue me.

So the news is we'll have 50 million quid for the Summer, here's what I'd do:

  • 10 million for Cech, he's the kind of a goalkeeper that wins you trophies
  • 40 million for Reus, love the guy
  • Khedira on a free.

Boom cancel the transfer window we've won it.

Still can't pull off a list on this contraption...

Is there any reason that's acceptable why Wenger's post shouldn't be under threat if we finish 10 points behind City thus fail to challenge?

Let's see where we are in January. The stubbornness is getting tiring, but Wenger does have two FA Cup trophies in the last two years so he's obviously doing something right.

With Man City and Chelsea making the Premier League their own competition, and then Man Utd and Liverpool throwing cash around as if they won a lottery, it's unrealistic to think that we should be automatically fighting for the title. There are four tiers of quality in the Premier League:

  1. Man City and Chelsea
  2. Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd
  3. Most other teams
  4. Three or four guaranteed relegation candidates

It's going to take a long time to upset that balance. And until we do, we'll be fighting for third or second place, at best.

I just hope Wenger doesn't neglect what we need most yet again. Not getting a proper CB and DM last Summer cost us a potential Premier League title.

We need a DM, whether it's backup for Le Coq or a starter and we need to purchase a good striker.

I thought it was injuries that cost us title. However i agree that i dont mind DM and Cuadrado sort of a winger. There are some good players that can be bought from Italian league like El Shaarawy, Pjanic etc..

Also any swap deal for CECH, i am not up for it unless they are asking for Flamini!

Podolski close to a €2m switch to Galatasaray, apparently.

Thats a rip off for Poldi..Can't we fool PSG to shell at least €10m for him? They bought David Luis for €47m after all.

In the other news Santi has politically told AW that if we want to win the league we need another striker to replace Theo. I wonder why he does not rate Theo, Alexis, Giroud and Danny. I believe we have plenty of firepower. We also have Chuba, Serge and Ox we can and will score lot of goals.

The Sun is linking us to Carvalho again. They say that we've bid £28.5m lol. He'd be a great option to have when we decide to park the bus against chelsea next season.

I think the problem is some sort of release clause + agent ownership combo where his actual fee would skyrocket. Wenger usually avoids those kind of complicated deals.
