The Almighty 2015 Summer Transfer Window Thread

Posted by VA10 about 9 years ago · 476 replies

I know it's too early but I've just had a brilliant idea of an ideal Summer transfer window so I opened the thread, sue me.

So the news is we'll have 50 million quid for the Summer, here's what I'd do:

  • 10 million for Cech, he's the kind of a goalkeeper that wins you trophies
  • 40 million for Reus, love the guy
  • Khedira on a free.

Boom cancel the transfer window we've won it.

Still can't pull off a list on this contraption...

Is there any reason that's acceptable why Wenger's post shouldn't be under threat if we finish 10 points behind City thus fail to challenge?

Let's see where we are in January. The stubbornness is getting tiring, but Wenger does have two FA Cup trophies in the last two years so he's obviously doing something right.

With Man City and Chelsea making the Premier League their own competition, and then Man Utd and Liverpool throwing cash around as if they won a lottery, it's unrealistic to think that we should be automatically fighting for the title. There are four tiers of quality in the Premier League:

  1. Man City and Chelsea
  2. Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd
  3. Most other teams
  4. Three or four guaranteed relegation candidates

It's going to take a long time to upset that balance. And until we do, we'll be fighting for third or second place, at best.

I've wanted him at Arsenal since he was at Lyon, I think he'll fit like a glove if he came over here.

I'm also a huge fan, I'm just saying that every new player needs an adjusting period, and I'm not so sure Benzema would be that much better than Giroud, at least not at first.

Probably. I do think Giroud is a good second choice for a title challenging club so he'd be doing his job whilst Benz would settle.

So Feler retweeting Arsenal news, was trolling from his side. Then all the media that reported, never backtracked the news (facepalm).

It was too good news to be true. But early reports about the interest in him are still there. Still bit confusing why would we go for him as long as we have Ramsey.

Nah he genuinely believes it's happening.

COPE are now reporting that it's 90% done and apparently they're reliable. I wouldn't know though.

Benzema or whoever come as striker in Arsenal, don't need to overtake Giroud in his first season, he just need to add diversity to our play and goals.

Well, i don't see any other info from Feler, other than the (radio news) and his retweeting, if the radio news was invented, the tweet is trolling.

Just to be clear, Feler is not some Ornstein type. He's a John Cross type. He makes a living inventing transfer rumours to generate clicks for his tabloid overlords, who then continue to pay him money. Timeline:

  • Feler tweets Vidal is done
  • Other clickbait outlets jump on the bandwagon
  • People on social media starts picking it up, not knowing Feler is a tabloid hack
  • Someone on Twitter creates an account and claims Feler was on the radio and TV talking about Vidal
  • Feler sees this and thinks 'holy shit, they're all buying it', re-tweets to give him more credibility
  • Troll reveals radio and TV appearance claim was made up
  • People can't believe they've been had, still believes it was true because Feler re-tweeted it, even though it's been proven that it never happened

To paraphrase famous racist, Chelsea supporter and misogynist Jeremy Clarkson: anyone continuing to believe that Feler is an accurate source must have an IQ that begins with a decimal point.

The even funnier part of this whole saga is that Feler might actually turn out to be right. Maybe we are in for Arturo Vidal, who knows? But even if it happens, it would have been pure guesswork from Feler all along. That's how ITKing works. You throw darts in the dark. Some will hit the board, some won't. People will only remember the accurate ones and ignore the fact that most of them missed.

Yea, its funny how social media can spread false rumor this days. But Vidal storie was reports 2 months ago, telegraph reported day early before that guy on twitter, so are few spanish media. Maybe Vidal is this year Higuain.

Lacazette for just £21 million?http://metro.co.uk/2015/06/29/alexandre-lacazette-offered-to-arsenal-in-21million-transfer-5271272I'd snap him up for that. My last housemate was a Lyon fan so I watched a lot of their games. Was pretty impressed by what I saw of him.

Pretty good stats, although his 27 goals in 33 appearances is a bit deceiving as eight of them were penalties. The only worry I'd have at £21m is that he's unproven in the Premier League, and he's quite short. Wenger prefers his strikers tall, lean and handsome.

Haha, indeed ! (and we love him for that ; ))

That's true, but Wenger also love to develop young(ish) players (and he's very good at that) and we need to add diversity to our play and goals. Sure, he will have to adapt to the Premier League, but that's why he would be a great fit with Giroud for next season. That's why I think Lacazette would be a better signing than Benzema.
