The Almighty 2015 Summer Transfer Window Thread

Posted by VA10 about 9 years ago · 476 replies

I know it's too early but I've just had a brilliant idea of an ideal Summer transfer window so I opened the thread, sue me.

So the news is we'll have 50 million quid for the Summer, here's what I'd do:

  • 10 million for Cech, he's the kind of a goalkeeper that wins you trophies
  • 40 million for Reus, love the guy
  • Khedira on a free.

Boom cancel the transfer window we've won it.

Still can't pull off a list on this contraption...

Is there any reason that's acceptable why Wenger's post shouldn't be under threat if we finish 10 points behind City thus fail to challenge?

Let's see where we are in January. The stubbornness is getting tiring, but Wenger does have two FA Cup trophies in the last two years so he's obviously doing something right.

With Man City and Chelsea making the Premier League their own competition, and then Man Utd and Liverpool throwing cash around as if they won a lottery, it's unrealistic to think that we should be automatically fighting for the title. There are four tiers of quality in the Premier League:

  1. Man City and Chelsea
  2. Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd
  3. Most other teams
  4. Three or four guaranteed relegation candidates

It's going to take a long time to upset that balance. And until we do, we'll be fighting for third or second place, at best.

I'm pretty sure Wenger signed Sanogo just so he didn't have to become a postman

You saying that Sanogo is Wengers bastard son? :O

Sport are saying Pedro could be moving to Chelsea...please no. I've been on about Pedro for a while now, he would be perfect to fill the huge winger gap we have n the squad. Only Sanchez and Theo are 100% capable of playing on the wing, despite none of them being actual wingers. We need at least one more direct wing player who bombs forward instead of cutting inside and gently passing the ball side to side.

Aren't you forgetting Ox and Segre? They both have been amazing and this is they year of Ox to shine.

Well have we not doubted AW a million times earlier and been proved wrong? Sanogo would be learning his trade from a Zen Master and from what i have seen all he lacks is first touch which is always very heavy. Once he can master that he would give plenty of defenders run for their money.

I don't really count Gnabry as first team this season, although it would be awesome if he was the new breakthrough talent. Ox is hard to pin down, position-wise. Is he really a winger? Hopefully he'll stay injury free so we can see what he's capable of.

He can't pass, he can't dribble, he can't shoot and has the worst first touch of a player I have ever seen. I don't I've ever seen such a worse player technically than him in my entire life play for Arsenal. Not even a senzu bean would make Sanogo into a Premier League standard striker

"Sanogo earned his first call up to the under-19 team in August 2010 to play in the Sendai Cup. In the tournament, Sanogo played in all three matches and, in the team's final group stage match against Brazil, scored a goal that was voted the goal of the tournament by the competition's organizing committee."

I think you're being a bit too dismissive over here, dude. He's been heralded as France's next striker of note since his days in the U16s. Give him some time.

He's now 22 and still plays like a 17 year old. Time to cut our losses, no need to big up every player we have. Just have to admit that some aren't good enough.

Sanogo is gonna score more goals in Eredivisie than Suarez, de Jong and Depay have done combined. Mark my words!

Probably you need to watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj70h5cRDmY He is strong and fights for the ball hard. He is a nightmare for the defenders. Indeed there are aspects which he needs to improve in his game but i wont let him to go a premier league rival.

BTW Giroud was a league 2 striker at the same age.

Well that's fine cause none of our Prem rivals would want him in the first place. And being as good as Giroud isn't exactly a high target. From what I've seen I'd rather play Akpom than Sanogo anyway. Hope he does well at Ajax but I can't see him becoming a Prem standard striker whatsoever.

Costa, Kane and Agüero all had better seasons. Kane in a much, much worse team too whereas we have one of the best and most creative midfields in World football. I've said it time and time again, Giroud is a great substitute striker for a title winning team; but he simply isn't consistent enough to be the guy to lead us to glory.

It's no coincidence that as far as I can remember all title winning teams in the Prem have been led by a goalscoring machine up front. Giroud isn't that guy.
