The Almighty 2015 Summer Transfer Window Thread

Posted by VA10 about 9 years ago · 476 replies

I know it's too early but I've just had a brilliant idea of an ideal Summer transfer window so I opened the thread, sue me.

So the news is we'll have 50 million quid for the Summer, here's what I'd do:

  • 10 million for Cech, he's the kind of a goalkeeper that wins you trophies
  • 40 million for Reus, love the guy
  • Khedira on a free.

Boom cancel the transfer window we've won it.

Still can't pull off a list on this contraption...

Is there any reason that's acceptable why Wenger's post shouldn't be under threat if we finish 10 points behind City thus fail to challenge?

Let's see where we are in January. The stubbornness is getting tiring, but Wenger does have two FA Cup trophies in the last two years so he's obviously doing something right.

With Man City and Chelsea making the Premier League their own competition, and then Man Utd and Liverpool throwing cash around as if they won a lottery, it's unrealistic to think that we should be automatically fighting for the title. There are four tiers of quality in the Premier League:

  1. Man City and Chelsea
  2. Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd
  3. Most other teams
  4. Three or four guaranteed relegation candidates

It's going to take a long time to upset that balance. And until we do, we'll be fighting for third or second place, at best.

Availability depends how much are you willing to pay for the club to let a player go. You have Cavani, Rues, Higuain and Lacazette available.

And out of those listed, I would prefer Lacazette and Reus over Benzema... Even Draxler. I just don't like the bald-headed willy fiddler.

Lacazette over Benzema? Reus, a winger/second striker over Benzema? Draxler? Sigh.

Anyway, in other news; Szczesny joining AS Roma on a loan deal with £3,5m option to buy? I don't mind him leaving that much, but £3,5m seems way too low.

Option to buy just means that at the end of the loan Roma will get an automatically accepted bid of £3.5m to start talks with the player about a permanent move. Doesn't mean we have to sell. It's designed to safeguard against a club skyrocketing the value of the player if he's performed well during his loan.

Mundo Deportivo claim we're in for Barca's Sergi Samper. They say he's a DM, I remember him as a CB. Either way, probably bullshit as usual.

I do happen to remember him as a DM in the Busquets fashion, but I also seem to remember him being compared to Xavi in terms of passing style and range =/ Maybe I'm mixing that second part up with someone else.

'People' are saying he doesn't even want to join Arsenal. I didn't think he would, as it seems like he has a bright future ahead of him.

From what i have seen on Youtube, Sergi Samper looks good, but youtube does not always show true picture. for DM i would like to have Grzegorz Krychowiak for Sevilla (Reports say we are interested) he taller, faster, bigger, technical and more experienced than Sergi. Only problem is that he is a poor passer of ball.

Arsenal Transfer Odds from SkyBet

3/1 - Lacazette

7/2 - Benzema

8/1 - Gotze

8/1 - Evans

10/1 - Ibrahimovic

14/1 - McCarthy

16/1 - Cavani

16/1 - Dzeko

16/1 - Bolasie

16/1 - Reus

20/1 - Lewandowski

I'm sure the main determining factor is pure speculation but as there's money to be won and lost by the bookmaker it could be worth keeping an eye on.

Giroud getting 130k/week means they gave up on getting a world class striker.

Departure of Flamini and injury of Arteta give hope for a new DM signing.

Why does Wenger want to play Wilshere as a 10. He's been so good for country playing as a deep-lying creator. He should be Cazorla's successor.

I think Ramsey is sold in January after expressing his unhappiness playing on the wing.

The player rotation this season should be used wisely other wise would be facing the same injury problem like last year and this season our bench is strong too .

Who says he's getting £130k/week?

Since when is Arteta injured?

Why does Wenger want to play Wilshere as a 10. He's been so good for country playing as a deep-lying creator. He should be Cazorla's successor.

Because he is by far a better #10 than he is anything else. His directness, his quick -thinking and his all-out attack mode is fantastic.

I think Ramsey is sold in January after expressing his unhappiness playing on the wing.

This will never happen.
