2017-2018 Summer Transfer Window

Posted by Ix Techau about 7 years ago · 461 replies

Squad rules terminology refresher:

  • We can register up to 25 players who are over 21
  • We can register a maximum of 17 non-homegrown players
  • Homegrown player means 36 months spent in England before end of season in which they turn 21
  • U21 player means any player born on or after January 1st 1996
  • U21 players don't have to be registered in order to play, which means we can have as many as we want

Confirmed transfers in/out:

  • Lacazette has signed for a club record £46m initial fee
  • Sanogo left on a free transfer on June 30th
  • Kolasinac joined on a free transfer on July 1st
  • Ospina has asked to be put on the transfer list
  • Lucas Perez has asked to be put on the transfer list
  • Wojciech Szczesny has joined Juventus for £10m

Likely transfers in/out:

  • Debuchy leaving has been on the cards for some time
  • Jenkinson could go on another season-long loan or permanent move
  • Unless said in jest, Wenger did say he wants to bid on Mahrez

Reading some of the suggestions that were posted here... Looks like Arsenalreport has finally gone full retard. Bring back Cesc? Young players will look up to him? To who? The cunt who stabbed us in the back? Cretins.

Alexis Sanchez on his Arsenal future

When asked if he will be Claudio Bravo’s team-mate at City next season during a press conference with Chile’s national team, Sanchez replied: ‘Good question! Right now I’m focused on the Confederations Cup.

‘When this is finished I will see if I stay or go. I don’t know.’

Asked if his decision is clear in his mind, Sanchez replied: ‘Yes, it’s clear. But I can’t tell you.’

When directly asked by Sky Sports about his chances of staying at Arsenal, the Chilean said: ‘I don’t know, my friend. I don’t know.’

Worrying signs...

It's such an odd way to respond, the only possible explanations:

  1. He's staying but have been told by Arsenal not to reveal this until it's prime time for season ticket renewal, boosting sales and improving support at a crucial time, and/or;

  2. He's staying but is playing undecided in order to force Arsenal to give him a huge contract, or;

  3. He's leaving but hasn't received or decided on any offers just yet.

Definitely a strange way to respond. Alexis might be trying to wait it out and act unsure about his future in hopes of a larger deal, like you said. Recently, there are some reports of offered pay rises equaling 20% coming for Mezut and Alexis, bonuses for making top 4. Ozil has just renewed his corporate box at the Emirates, doesn't look like he's leaving.

Still, the offers for Alexis from Bayern really undervalue his quality, If Higuain went to Juve for €90 million last year, shouldn't Alexis be worth more than that?

Why would he announce transfer business in some news conference after a confederation cup game?

Arsenal can just refuse to sell him and let him sit out for a year of his prime, so there's no reason to talk to the media about transfer business. Especially if he wants out.

Except, as Liverpool put it: contracts don't mean much today. If he wants to leave there is no way Arsenal would keep him. Especially not Arsenal, who for some reason feel they have to be the moral standard in football. If he wants to leave we will sell him, simple as that.

No player is bigger than club.. and Arsene has always allowed his star players to leave, upon their wish.. If Alexis is really leaving and we don't sign a suitable replacement yet then we're are in big trouble...

This crazy transfer market has a value of €20m for Nathaniel Ake, €80m for James Rodriguez, €70m for Naby Keita, €135m for Kylian Mbape, €200m for Harry Kane...

But Alexis is worth just €50m??? (for having only one year left in contract)

transfer values are not reflections purely of a player's skill. it also has a lot to do with what teams are in the market as buyers, who is doing the selling, and how badly the player desires a move.

arsenal are a bunch of spineless pushovers when it comes to transfers of their own star players, hence the ridiculous bargain prices being mentioned in regards to alexis.

I agree that Arsenal is very poor in negotiating transfer of their star players... Henry, RVP, Cesc to name a few...

But this crazy transfer fees were triggered by the cash rich owners, who are willing to pay more than that of a player's value (sometimes even 200%).. They're simply mocking FFP rules!!!

the ffp rules were clearly put in place by these power clubs to shut out the next tier from competing in transfers.

ARSENAL SET FOR ALEXIS MEETING

Arsene Wenger will meet both Alexis Sanchez and Hector Bellerin this week as he looks to persuade the Arsenal duo to stay at the club, says The Sun .

Alexis looks set to join Manchester City in the coming weeks, despite Wenger declaring the Gunners would not sell to a Premier League rival.

Bellerin has long been linked with a return to boyhood club Barcelona, though the Arsenal boss is to tell the Spaniard he will not be allowed to leave.

The crisis talks are seen as somewhat of a last ditch attempt at the Frenchman keeping his stars ahead of the 2017-18 season.

ARSENAL PLOT €80M SPORTING RAID

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering an €80 million (£70.2m) double raid on Sporting Lisbon for Gelson Martins and William Carvalho, according to A Bola, via the Mirror .

Wenger is already close to adding Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette to his squad , and is also keen on winger Martins, who has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United, and midfielder Carvalho.

If Alexis has any ambition, he'll leave.

He won't win shit here except another FA Cup.

The only reason he'd stay is a huge pay rise.

But everyone knows by now that under the mismanagement of the senile arrogant fool that is Wenger, Arsenal will continue sliding into mediocrity

Maybe I am in the minority, but I am really not impressed with this signing, if it happens. Iirc, Lacazette is behind Giroud in the pecking order for the French national team. Getting him for 50 mil is not a great piece of business in my mind.

Well, thing is, for france's settup Giroud and Gignac are the perfect #9s, that's why Benzema's controversy didn't impact the national team's way of playing.

Benzema was out of French national team, but still worth around €60m.. You could also see Aguero & Higuain, both were in and out of Argentina national team, but still worth hefty transfer fee..

So far so good, but I really hope that Wenger won't stop here. Lemar would be awesome, but if Mahrez comes, I won't be sad. Also a CM is badly needed. Two more signings, Alexis and Özil to stay and we're fully ready for the new season.

Two more signings, Alexis and Özil to stay and we're fully ready for the new season.

Need to get rid of a lot of players to fit two new signings. Squad is huge at the moment, 31 players in need of registration out of 25 allowed and 18 non-homegrown out of 17 allowed.

Ospina, Perez, Debuchy, Jenkinson and Campbell are most likely to leave, with Szczesny and Wilshere also possible. Cazorla is out long-term so no reason to register him until January. We need all those players to leave in order to fit two new non-homegrown non-U21 players.
